Invocation

A semi-autobiographical magical realist coming-of-age tale, merging dance, poetry, storytelling, live music and projections

Invocation emerged during research enabled by a DYCP Grant from Arts Council England in 2022. Based on a poetry manuscript of the same name, the show tells a tender, powerful story of sisterhood + solidarity, from teenage witchbag to #MeToo tales, mythic underbelly and ancestry.

A triology of three pilot films were also created as adaptations of the live show. You can watch these below.

Beautiful, powerful, emotive. An annotated dance piece in celebration of womanhood and power.

Moving, felt transcendant. Very relatable … let’s start a crone club!

Mesmerising, quite haunting and thought provoking.

Nostalgic, dream-like, heartbreaking and inspiring.
