Welcome

I’m Izzy Brittain (she/they) and I’m a Leeds based artist, performer, facilitator and maker. I work across dance, poetry, story-making, theatre and film. My work is often interdisciplinary, participatory, intergenerational, improvisational or outdoor; I welcome art that expands beyond traditional spaces, audiences + formats. My practice centres creative resistance and collective joy; rituals of care, connection, embodiment and empowerment. I’m interested in trans-disciplinary thinking and collective experimentation. Think wonky utopias, witch clubs, open source art spaces + long-term arts for health initiatives.

Projects and collaborations are diverse and include live/film commissions, solo performance, published writing, participatory projects and advisory roles. I’m fascinated by body, ecology, breath, myth, science, story, people, power, magic. My practice is a constant state of evolution. I see it as a series of antidotes, an ordinary magic, a gentle activism. The alchemy that occurs at the meeting point between beings, places, imaginations. I’ve witnessed how crossing borders and telling untold stories can open up portals for new worlds to emerge. I believe this process of imagineering together is our birth-right.

Here’s to taking our time, to sensing our own context, to presence, playfulness, making mischief + dancing the solution. See about for more.
